Electromyography of the Lower Limbs in Israel

Electromyography (EMG) of the lower limbs allows the diagnosis of the cause of weakness in the legs, pain syndrome, and decreased mobility in the lower limbs using weak electrical signals. If you need electromyography, this procedure can be performed in any major clinic in Israel. Our medical center is equipped with modern electromyography devices that can accurately determine the disease and promptly begin treatment.

5000
foreign patients are treated annually at Top Ihilov clinic
82%
successful cases of treatment with conservative methods
1230
procedures using the modern "da Vinci" system

The EMG procedure performed at our clinic allows for the precise determination of the nature of the disease, its prevalence, the degree of damage to the lower limbs, and tracking the dynamics of the treatment process. The neurology department of Top Ihilov center is equipped with modern electromyographs and electroneuromyographs, which are completely safe for patients.

Electromyography of the Lower Limbs in Israel – Methodology of the Study

During the electromyography procedure, the specialist studies the conductivity of the electrical signal in the muscle and nerve tissues of the lower limbs. The measurement of signal transmission in muscles and nerves can be conducted separately, but often both studies are performed as part of one diagnostic procedure. Electromyography helps to determine the cause of weakness, spasms, or paralysis of the muscles of the lower limbs, and to identify the nature of pain in the legs. Using EMG, specialists at our clinic diagnose nerve compression, damage to nerve roots, myasthenia, muscular dystrophy, and other pathologies.

  • The first part of the study involves examining the nerve conduction of the electrical signal. The goal of the study is to identify pathologies related to the conduction (as well as the formation) of the electrical impulse that travels from the nerves to the muscles and controls their function. The electrical signal generated by the device enters the nerve through an electrode placed on the patient's skin surface. Another electrode is placed on the skin surface in the area of the muscle that the studied nerve controls. The speed of signal conduction from the first electrode to the second is recorded by the device. At the moment the signal is generated, the patient may experience some discomfort, but most patients do not find it too unpleasant.
  • The second part of the study is needle electromyography. During the procedure, thin needle electrodes are inserted into the suspected areas of muscle dysfunction, which register the electrical signal generated by the device as it passes through the muscle tissue to the electrode insertion site. During needle electromyography, the patient actively participates in the study. From time to time, the doctor asks the patient to tense their leg muscles to better examine their electrical conductivity. If necessary, the doctor changes the electrode insertion sites to obtain a more accurate picture.

The data obtained from the signal registration by the electrodes is displayed on the device screen and can be recorded as a special graph – electromyogram. Most devices, while registering the impulse transmitted by the electrodes, emit a sound signal resembling a click. By analyzing the electromyogram and comparing the electrical conductivity of the muscles of the lower limbs at rest and during tension, the specialist can determine the cause of the disease.

The total duration of the study is approximately 1-3 hours, depending on the clinical picture. Contraindications for conducting the study include implanted electrical devices (such as pacemakers, etc.).

After the EMG, the patient can continue with their daily activities without any restrictions. Some people may experience mild pain after the study, which can be alleviated with regular analgesics.

Normal results of electromyography indicate the absence of electrical activity in a relaxed muscle (a smooth wavy line on the electromyogram) and good speed of electrical signal conduction by the nerve controlling the muscle.

The presence of certain problems can be indicated by the presence of electrical activity in a relaxed muscle, a very weak electrical signal received by the muscle during tension, as well as a very slow speed of signal conduction from the nerve to the muscle. Such results may indicate muscular or neurological disorders (inflammatory processes, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myasthenia, degenerative diseases of the spine, etc.).

Electromyography – Price in Israel

If you need electromyography, it is best to have it done in Israel – our country is known worldwide for its high level and accuracy of diagnostics. The cost of the procedure is quite affordable for foreign patients with various income levels – savings compared to European and American clinics amount to about 30-50%.

Why Choose Top Ihilov Clinic

Electromyography of the Lower Limbs in Israel

  • The experience of neurologists and other specialists working at Top Ihilov center allows for the accurate diagnosis of a wide range of diseases of the peripheral nervous system and muscles of the lower limbs. The most modern electroneuromyographs are used for this purpose, allowing simultaneous examination of electrical conductivity in both nerve and muscle tissues.
  • The electromyography procedure performed at our clinic is completely safe for the patient – the electrical signal generated by the device cannot cause harm, and the electrodes used during needle electromyography are completely sterile.
  • The best indicator of the quality of electromyography of the lower limbs in Israel is the feedback from patients of our clinic. Each of them expresses gratitude to our doctors for their professionalism and dedicated approach to their work. Often, special thanks are given to the personal curator-translator who handled the organization of diagnostics and ensured that the visit to Israel left the patient with only the warmest memories.
