During the operation, miniature incisions of 5 mm in diameter are made in the abdominal wall; through one of them, a camera is inserted, which displays what is happening in the abdominal cavity on the monitor screen. Surgical instruments designed for excising the affected organ are introduced through the other openings. With the help of additional equipment, the excised organ is removed through a 15 mm incision in the vaginal wall.

This type of operation can also be performed by opening the peritoneum using a large incision or laparoscopically. During the laparoscopic operation, the equipment is introduced into the operative area through miniature incisions in the abdominal wall, one of which needs to be enlarged to extract the excised organ.
