The most common type of kidney cancer is carcinoma. It accounts for 80% of all malignant kidney tumours.
In the early stages of kidney carcinoma, a person may notice blood in the urine, which can range in color from light pink to dark red. Then, pain may occur in the lower back, which can radiate to the area of the upper ribs, groin, and perineum. Fever in the evening, reaching 38-39 degrees Celsius, is characteristic of carcinoma.

Kidney Carcinoma - Treatment at Top Ihilov Clinic
The method of treating kidney carcinoma at Top Ihilov Clinic is chosen only after comprehensive diagnostics and analysis. Surgical methods for tumour removal are preferred, as carcinoma cells are resistant to chemotherapy.
In the early stages of the disease, non-surgical methods for destroying the tumour using ultrasound, laser, or X-ray radiation, and cold are possible. These treatment methods are performed on the most modern equipment and under CT control. One such method, cryoablation, affects the tumour with low temperatures (-35 degrees) and freezes it, causing cancer cell death. The radiofrequency ablation method, on the other hand, heats the tumour to high temperatures, also leading to its death. The gamma knife method destroys the tumour using a precisely directed beam of X-ray radiation.
If the tumour is large, a nephrectomy is performed to remove it. The kidney itself may be removed partially or completely. The operation can be performed openly or laparoscopically through a probe.
A new method for treating kidney cancer using targeted drugs that specifically affect cancer cells is being developed in Israel.
The key to successful treatment of kidney carcinoma lies in comprehensive therapy and an individual approach to each patient.

Diagnosis of Kidney Carcinoma at Top Ihilov Clinic
In the Israeli Top Ihilov Clinic, examination of a patient suspected of kidney cancer is conducted according to a strictly defined plan and takes no more than two days. During the preliminary examination, the doctor palpates the affected kidney, and if the tumour is large, it can be detected. The following procedures are then performed:
- Kidney Ultrasound;
- CT;
- MRI of the retroperitoneal space, abdominal and thoracic organs to detect metastases;
- If necessary, a contrast study is performed - excretory urography.
