Without Pills: A New Device for Pain Relief Created in Israel

More and more people are looking for new ways to cope with pain that do not involve taking painkillers. Their demand can be met by the new device Alfa Plus, invented and manufactured in Israel. This portable device is designed for home use and effectively addresses various types of pain by improving local blood circulation. It is completely safe and easy to use.
“This is the first and so far the only radiofrequency device in the world designed for home use that has received approval from American and European regulatory bodies. It effectively alleviates chronic and menstrual pain, as well as pain caused by sports and other injuries,” says the creator of the innovative device, serial entrepreneur Chuck Cohen.
He explains that he was dissatisfied with existing pain relief devices based on light and electrical nerve stimulation. “I decided to invent something that would truly work. For two years, I knocked on the doors of various medical companies until I finally found what was needed,” says Cohen.
This “what is needed” uses three different energy sources, combining bipolar radiofrequency radiation to improve blood circulation, dual-wave infrared radiation to warm the skin and reduce its rigidity, and low-level laser therapy to alleviate pain. All these technologies are integrated into one small device designed for external use.
The development of Alfa Plus also involved the Israeli company Home Skinovations from Yokneam, which has a track record of dozens of award-winning professional cosmetic devices designed for home use. “Radiofrequency technologies are the main focus of Home Skinovations, and they developed all the innovations exclusively for us. Without their help, we wouldn’t have succeeded,” says Cohen.
How It Works
Alfa Plus provides long-lasting relief from chronic and menstrual pain, as well as eliminates pain sensations caused by sports and other injuries. The device is placed on the part of the body that hurts, and after setting the appropriate mode according to the type of pain, circular movements are performed. The impulses generated by four radiofrequency diodes penetrate through the skin into deeper layers, improving local blood circulation, accelerating tissue regeneration, and reducing inflammation, muscle stiffness, and pain.
According to Cohen, the action of the new device is comparable to trigger therapy, as it activates the body's natural recovery mechanisms by stimulating blood circulation and the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the affected area. Alfa Plus comes with a conductive gel that ensures smooth movement of the device over the skin and facilitates the proper conduction of the treatment procedure.
In clinical trials, the results of which will be announced soon, the new pain relief device was used in conjunction with trigger therapy on more than 100 patients, 90 of whom reported a reduction in lower back pain. A second phase of trials will soon begin to determine how well Alfa Plus performs its task independently.
Duration of Treatment
The duration and frequency of use of the new device depend on the type of pain the person is experiencing. In the case of menstrual pain, a single therapeutic session lasting 15–20 minutes is sufficient. For chronic pain, the device is recommended to be used twice a day for the first few days and then once a day for two to three months, after which no more than four times a week to avoid excessive stimulation.
“It is unlikely to completely eliminate chronic pain, but our device can reduce the intensity and severity of pain,” assures Cohen. “We have noticed that people who took a large number of painkillers to cope with chronic lower back pain found that using Alfa Plus helped reduce their medication intake by half.”
Dr. Judith Hellman, a specialist in cosmetic and general dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, says that many of her patients who suffered from chronic or other types of pain preferred to avoid analgesics due to the potential risk of side effects.
The combination of technologies underlying Alfa Plus, according to her, makes it capable of effectively addressing various types of pain – from superficial skin to deep muscle pain. The doctor emphasizes the ease of use of the new pain relief device, its safety, and its high effectiveness both when used alone and in combination with painkillers when their use cannot be avoided.
