Highly qualified surgeons at Top Ihilov Clinic have extensive experience in treating all types of hernias, including diaphragmatic hernias in adults and children. Our clinic also provides treatment for newborns with congenital diaphragmatic hernias.
Treatment of Hernia in Newborns
In the surgical department of the clinic, treatment of diaphragmatic hernias is performed using non-traumatic minimally invasive methods, which help prevent complications, shorten hospitalization time, and accelerate the rehabilitation period.
Diaphragmatic hernias are treated using gentle, mini-invasive endoscopic methods, employing laparoscopic techniques and thoracic surgery.
Fundoplication – Surgery for Treating Diaphragmatic Hernias
Fundoplication (Nissen Fundoplication) is performed using laparoscopes.
Specialized catheters are sequentially introduced into the abdominal cavity, through which the laparoscope and all subsequent surgical instruments are inserted under visual observation.
During the operation, sections of the stomach are mobilized, from which a cuff is created to encircle the esophagus. Then, esophageal drainage is performed, the esophageal opening is sutured, a nasogastric tube is inserted, and gastric folds are sutured, with the fundus of the stomach being stitched around the esophagus to eliminate the hernia.
The duration of this operation is from 40 to 120 minutes. Subsequent hospitalization is 1-3 days.
This operation helps prevent the development of reflux and significantly improves quality of life.
Laparoscopic fundoplication surgeries are also used for peptic esophagitis and reflux esophagitis, Barrett's esophagus.
At Top Ihilov Clinic, the treatment of diaphragmatic hernia is performed by a team of qualified surgeons, thoracic surgeons, and pediatric surgeons.
