Israel's Successes in Treating Coronavirus

A group of Israeli scientists from the Ness Ziona Biological Institute, led by Dr. Lev Boaz, reported a significant breakthrough in research dedicated to the development of antibodies against the COVID-19 coronavirus. The antibodies obtained by the scientists showed effectiveness in neutralizing the virus in the body of the patient and may serve as a basis for creating a drug against the "plague of 2020." The institute has patented the obtained antibodies for commercial use. The findings of the conducted work have already been published in the scientific journal "Nature Communications."

Following the announcement of this success, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett visited the laboratory where the antibody was developed, where he was shown how the antibodies work and how the virus is neutralized in the human body. Bennett stated that he is proud of the research results and that the antibodies indeed attack the virus and will likely help in the development of an effective drug, meaning that treatment for coronavirus in Israel and victory over it will soon become a reality. However, the defense minister did not specify any timelines for the production of the planned drug.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Israeli Ministry of Health as of May 26, 2020, there have been 16,757 confirmed cases of infection in the country. Israel's experience in treating coronavirus shows that most cases, about 80%, are mild, and to date, the number of recoveries stands at 14,457 people. There are four treatment protocols for coronavirus in Israel, but unfortunately, none provide 100% assurance of effectiveness.

It is worth noting that earlier breakthroughs in the search for antibodies against the coronavirus were reported by Dutch and American scientists. Additionally, over 100 research groups worldwide are working to create a drug against the COVID-19 virus. It was also believed that a drug for Ebola fever could be effective in combating the pandemic; however, unfortunately, its ability to counter the disease has not been proven.
