Dr. Tal NahlieliDr. Tal Nahlieli

Leading specialist in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body

Breast surgery is a cosmetic procedure typically aimed at improving the shape or increasing the size of the breasts in Israel through the use of silicone or saline implants (as well as other surgical manipulations). From the perspective of Israeli plastic surgeons, the main goal of this procedure is to change the natural proportions in such a way that creates a perfectly symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing breast shape that meets the individual needs of the woman.

The specialists at Top Ihilov clinic use next-generation implants that are reliable and safe. Preliminary modeling of the future breast shape allows patients to see changes before the surgery, and modern implant placement techniques guarantee the absence of complications, minimal impact on milk production function, and no cosmetic defects. Our clinic also performs breast lift and reduction mammoplasty surgeries.

Breast Surgery in Israel – Methods

It is quite difficult to describe the "typical" patients who undergo this procedure, as breast augmentation is just one of the reasons women decide to have surgery. The surgeons at our clinic perform breast plastic surgeries to correct breast asymmetry and remove various deformities. Many patients opt for this procedure to restore breast fullness after pregnancy and breastfeeding or simply to improve aesthetics.

Today, the technique of breast plastic surgeries in Israeli clinics has been perfected. Our patients can choose from various types of modern implants as well as methods of their placement.

Types of Implants

There are saline and silicone implants, as well as implants made of cohesive silicone. None of these types is inferior to the others, but they differ in cost, individual sensations, and surgical implantation techniques.

  • Saline implants are filled with a sterile saline solution, providing even shape and firmness to the breasts.
  • Structured saline implants have an internal structure that ensures ideal natural shape.
  • Silicone implants are filled with silicone gel, which is closer in properties to natural breast tissue. After the installation of silicone implants, women must periodically visit the surgeon to check their condition.
  • Cohesive silicone implants have a stable shape as they are filled with a denser silicone consistency. Their installation requires a longer skin incision.

Implants also vary in shape and texture. They can be round or anatomical and may have a special texture on the surface that ensures better contact with natural breast tissues and prevents implant displacement. Our plastic surgeon will help you choose the right type from the wide variety of implants available.

Methods of Implant Placement

  • Submammary placement through the inframammary fold (IMF) – this breast plastic surgery method is performed using small incisions located in the fold under the breast, called the inframammary fold. After the procedure, thin scars of 2-5 cm remain, which are hidden under the breast. The advantages of this implant placement method include good visibility during the operation and the ability to more accurately position silicone or cohesive silicone implants. The IMF approach is the most widely used and allows for better preservation of breast functions, as it does not affect glandular tissue or nerves.
  • Periareolar implantation is performed through incisions around the outer contour of the nipple, so the scars left after the operation are virtually invisible. This type of implantation is usually applied when a breast lift is performed simultaneously with the installation of implants. Unlike other types of implantation, the periareolar approach can lead to a significant decrease in milk production function, as the intervention disrupts milk ducts, breast tissue, and nerves.
  • Axillary implantation is done through incisions in the armpits. The progress of the operation is monitored using an endoscope camera. Small scars remain in the armpits, which is more preferable as the breast skin remains untouched. This type of implantation has virtually no impact on milk production function, as nerve and glandular tissues are not disrupted during the operation.
  • Transumbilical implantation is performed through an incision in the navel area. The advantage of this technique is that only one scar remains after the operation, located outside the breast area. The procedure provides a good cosmetic effect but requires more time, as the surgeon must use special endoscopic instruments during the implant installation.

Regardless of the type of implantation, the procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Most patients leave the clinic on the same day as the procedure or the following day. Patients can move independently a few hours after the operation.

During the first week after implantation, there is slight inflammation, which then subsides. Physical activity is not recommended for 2-4 weeks. The surgeon may also recommend wearing a supportive bra or compression garments during this period. During this time, scars heal and gradually fade (but not completely – barely visible scars remain).

Other Types of Mammoplasty

In addition to the installation of breast implants, the plastic surgeons at our clinic also successfully perform other types of mammoplasty, particularly breast lifting (mastopexy) and reduction mammoplasty. Thousands of our patients have undergone mastopexy – breast lifting. Plastic surgeons from Top Ihilov perform this operation using several modern methods that allow for the removal of ptosis while avoiding complications (hematomas, infections) and preventing secondary sagging of the breasts.

Reduction mammoplasty is also a highly demanded operation that reduces hypertrophied breasts. This procedure helps make the patient's life more comfortable and prevents complications associated with breast hypertrophy (mastitis, mastopathy, and even accompanying osteochondrosis).

Breast Surgery in Israel – Prices

Breast SurgeryAn important question that interests women who choose breast surgery in Israel is the cost of the procedure. There is a misconception that implantation is a very expensive service. However, this is not entirely true. Firstly, it all depends on the type of implants being used, and secondly, on the type of implantation itself. Some types of implantation (for example, submammary) do not require significant time and additional equipment, while others (for example, axillary) involve the use of endoscopic instruments and are more time-consuming. Therefore, in each specific case, the cost of implantation differs. The same applies to other mammoplasty operations.

Nevertheless, the services of Israeli plastic surgeons are among the most affordable and high-quality in the world. It is well known that plastic surgeries in Israel are 20-50% cheaper than in European, Canadian, and American clinics.
