Gideon Uretsky is one of the most distinguished representatives of the cardiology community in Israel. He currently heads the cardiac surgery department at
Ichilov Medical Center and also practices at the Assuta medical complex.
Professor Uretsky is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, class of 1970. After graduating, he completed a residency specializing in cardiothoracic surgery at Hadassah Medical Center. The doctor practiced in England at the Institute of Naval Medicine, furthered his training at the Mayo Clinic in the United States, worked under the renowned cardiac surgeon Carpentier in France, and was a research fellow at the cardiac surgery center at Harvard. Uretsky taught at the Hadassah medical school and, after 2000, received the title of professor at Tel Aviv University.
Before leading the cardiac department at Ichilov Medical Center, he worked as a senior cardiac surgeon at Hadassah Medical Center and also headed the cardiac department at Carmel Medical Center.
His practical experience includes numerous complex surgeries: aortic valve implantation, bicuspid valve repair, and more. In addition, the professor is actively involved in research work.
Gideon Uretsky has published over 150 scientific papers in the most prestigious medical journals. Among his publications are works dedicated to cardiomyoplasty, aortic aneurysms, and others. He is a regular participant in congresses dedicated to professional issues. The professor has been awarded a total of thirty-seven awards for achievements in the field of medicine.
In recent years, the professor has repeatedly ranked first in the category of "Best Cardiac Surgeons in Israel."
